Clarity in CommunicationPDF HelpTo read Portable Document Format (PDF) files you need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader. I hope your browser didn't crash when trying to download my PDF files. I have had a private chat with an Adobe employee about this. This person will remain nameless. There is a fix! Apparently this is a known problem with the interface between Adobe Acrobat Reader and "some third-party software" when Acrobat Reader tries to open PDF files in certain configurations - in other words, several major browsers crash when they open Acrobat Reader to allow you to view a file. Adobe's version of the story is that they can't be responsible for the behaviour of third-party software. The third-party manufacturers say much the same thing. To avoid this problem, save the PDF file to your desktop and open it from there using Acrobat directly rather than through a browser. Apparently computer viruses cannot be transmitted through PDF files. Versions of Opera should save to the desktop automatically. In all cases you should be given an option of where to save the file. When download is complete, click on the file as normal. Acrobat Reader should open the file without recourse to your browser. If you don't want to bother with the fix you can contact me and ask for the files in .rtf or .doc formats. |
